From Norway to South Africa on Wheels
After almost four years of planning, three Norwegian men finally embarked on their journey of a lifetime; driving from Oslo to South Africa. On 28 April 2010, the Norwegians waved goodbye to friends and families in Oslo and climbed into their new home for the next couple of months; a fully kitted out Toyota Landcruiser. Read more

Oslo Honours Four SA Peace Laureates with an Exhibition
The eagerly awaited exhibition Strengths and Convictions – the lives and times of the four South African Peace Prize Laureates, was opened on 6 May by Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre at the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo with HM Queen Sonja of Norway present. Read more

Embassy Braai
The South African Embassy staff hosted a summer braai on 3 June with a special guest; 12 year-old Kajashny Rasathuri from Frogner in Akershus. Kajashny recently won 48 000 Norwegian Kroner on the television quiz show Kvitt eller Dobbelt, where she was quizzed on her specialist subject, Nelson Mandela. Read more

2010 FIFA World Cup Opening Party
The opening of the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2010 was celebrated in true South African style at the South African Embassy in Oslo, Norway, on 11 June. Around 250 guests came to the party, which the Embassy hosted together with the South African Society (SASN) in Norway. Read more

WOSA Wine Tasting
Football and Wine were on the agenda at the South African Embassy in Oslo on 16 June, when the Embassy together with Wines of South Africa hosted a wine promotion and football screening of South Africa’s World Cup match against Uruguay. Mandela Day in Tromsø
On the day the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicked off, Ambassador Sisulu presented the Award of Excellence to the city of Tromsø. The awards ceremony was part of the annual Nelson Mandela Day, which is celebrated annually by the people of Tromsø to mark Nelson Mandela’s visit to the northern city on 11 June 2005. Read more

International Peace Mediators in Oslo
South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr. Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim participated the Oslo Forum on 15-17 June, where 90 mediators and peace process actors were brought together to consider challenges in mediation. Read more
