Application for a Temporary Residence Permit

Select the category of permit being applied for and the prescribed application form BI-1738 must be completed in BLACK INK. The following documents must be submitted:

1. Application form BI-1738. Select category of permit being applied for. (For more information, please see Department of Home Affairs website http://home-affairs.pwv.gov.za)
2. Two (2) recent passport photographs.
3. Proof of funds (e.g. Signed and stamped copy of Bank Statement or confirmation from the bank). If financed or sponsored by a company/ institution a confirmation letter should be submitted.
4. Travel insurance or medical insurance is compulsory.
5. Supporting documents as stated in item 12.1 of the application form BI-1738.
6. Supporting documents in respect of the category of permit being applied for.
7. For a period of 365 days an open/ return ticket is required. For a period longer than 365 days, a deposit of NOK 8000 is required.
8. The passport should be valid for not less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended visit. At least two unused pages should be available.
9. Applicants must please indicate whether the passport will be collected from the Embassy. If the passport is to be returned by mail (registered mail) the applicant is requested to forward a self addressed stamped registered envelope. Please forward a separate envelope for each passport. The postage fee per passport is NOK 120.
